SmCo (Samarium Cobalt) Magnets

SmCo samarium cobalt magnet manufacturer — Sm1Co5 and Sm2Co17 magnets for high temperature, aerospace, defence and precision applications. Up to 350 °C working temperature, ISO certified.

Samarium cobalt (SmCo) magnets are rare earth permanent magnets made from samarium and cobalt, available in Sm1Co5 (1:5) and Sm2Co17 (2:17) series. They retain strong magnetic performance at high temperatures up to 350 °C and resist corrosion without coating.

Ningbo Pole Magnet produces SmCo arc, block, ring, disc and irregular magnets for aerospace, defence, oilfield, medical and high-performance motor applications, with 500+ tons annual capacity.

FAQ

SmCo (Samarium Cobalt) Magnets — Frequently Asked Questions

Why is SmCo chosen over NdFeB for demanding applications?
SmCo keeps high magnetic output at operating temperatures of 250–350 °C where NdFeB demagnetizes, has excellent corrosion resistance without coating, and maintains stable magnetic performance over extreme temperature cycling.
What is the difference between Sm1Co5 and Sm2Co17?
Sm2Co17 offers higher energy product and better temperature coefficient, while Sm1Co5 offers very high coercivity and even better thermal stability. The choice depends on your operating temperature and output requirements.
Do you provide free samples for testing?
Yes, sample orders are welcome. Send your drawing or specification together with the intended application so our engineers can recommend the correct grade, magnetization direction and coating before we prepare samples.
Can the factory produce to my drawing with special tolerances?
Yes. We machine, grind and inspect to customer drawing tolerances. For sintered NdFeB the standard machining tolerance is ±0.05 mm and can be tightened to ±0.02 mm with diamond grinding where the geometry allows.
What coating options do you recommend for NdFeB magnets?
Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) for general indoor use, zinc for cost-sensitive applications, and epoxy or Parylene for environments with humidity, salt or organic solvents. Our QC team can help select the best coating for your operating environment.
